Job Description

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Digital Strategy & CRM office is looking for a Digital Marketing Analyst to join the team. This individual will be responsible for providing analytical expertise and coordinating the development and implementation of data management strategies and data collection systems for the Digital and CRM teams. Identify, analyze and interpret data and make recommendations for improvement to marketing campaigns, business, operations and system processes.
What will I be doing?
  • Develops and implements data management strategies and data collection systems including the design and development of relational databases for information management and retrieval that optimize statistical efficiency, data quality and supports evidence-based decision making.
  • Provide insight into results and outline recommendations for campaigns, business improvements or revenue opportunities.
  • Imports, cleans, transforms, and validates data to improve data quality and ensure data is accurate and relevant and fosters understanding of operational, business and system issues/trends while advising on data issues which includes quality, availability and usability.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to internal stakeholders and business units to provide technical advice, assist with data interpretation, needs analysis and provide insight and commentary for decision making purposes.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of internal and external data sources relevant to operational, business and systems data to design and build meaningful databases that centralizes data for internal stakeholders to access.
  • Identifies, analyses, and interprets trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Identifies, analyzes and interprets data and makes recommendations for improvement to marketing campaigns, business, operations and system processes.
  • Contributes to the identification and development of new process improvement opportunities for operational, business and systems activities through the development and implementation of data management and collection strategies as well as the analysis of data to support process improvements and evidence-based decision making.
  • Presents data in dashboards, charts, graphs and/or tables by building, designing, and maintaining online applications such as data input/data collection screens to capture and present meaningful information/data for reporting, analysis and presentation purposes for use by management, internal business units and stakeholders in identifying and implementing process improvements.
What skills & qualifications do I need?
  • Technical expertise in the use and application of data modelling, , investigative and data mining methods and techniques.
  • Ability to learn new software and tools in an efficient manner
  • Interpersonal and relationship management skills to liaise with stakeholders and business units to identify/manage data/information requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding with reporting dashboard platforms and data visualization tools (Power BI, Google Data Studio, Tableau etc.)
  • Verbal and written communication skills to prepare reports, update and brief management; provide information and explanations of a technical nature to a range of internal stakeholders
  • University degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Marketing Analytics or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with strict attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience with Power BI and Google Data Studio is an asset
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts, database management software and tools and computer applications including MS Office Excel (Pivot tables, Power Pivot, formulas, VBA) and SQL queries.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ experience in a Marketing or Digital Data Analyst, Measurement specialist or similar role, with a background in Marketing Analytics, Data Science, , information management, , business intelligence, data mining or statistics.
  • Critical-thinking skills to identify trends in data and provide insight into results and outline recommendations.
  • Expert level knowledge of social media analytics and listening tools (e.g. Brandwatch, Social Studio)
