Under the guidance of a Team Lead, the Pre-Clinical Services Intern will be responsible for assisting the Bioassay Development team at PNI in Vancouver with a number of potency assays.

What You'll Do

• Design and perform experiments to analyze the in vitro potency of drug formulations using standard techniques detailed below.
• Assist with daily tasks in the lab such as maintenance, buffer preparation, ordering, etc.
• Use routine bioassay techniques to characterize nanoparticle formulations and assess their potency.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Refer to available literature to prepare study plans and participate in experimental design, problem-solving and technical discussions.
• Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), reports and technical presentations.

Who You Are

• Experience with nanoparticle chemistry and fundamentals is an asset
• Be able to work both as a team and independently with minimum supervision.
• Be able to work with minimum supervision
• Experience with standard molecular biology techniques such as Western blots, ELISA, gel electrophoresis, qPCR, etc., is an asset
• Must be a resourceful, proactive, detail-oriented individual
• General knowledge of bioassay techniques
• Hands on experience with maintaining cell cultures and standard tissue culture techniques is an asset.
• An interest in drug delivery and genetic medicines
• Excellent communication skills
• A third- or fourth-year post secondary student in Biology, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemical and Biological Engineering, or relevant disciplines with hands-on experience in the laboratory is preferred
• The individual must be a team player who thrives in a dynamic environment with multiple tasks and aggressive deadlines
• Must be resourceful, flexible, detail-oriented, organized and with excellent communication skills.
