Summary
BGIS Professional Services is look for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The Mechanical Engineer will be a member of the Professional Services team and provide technical oversight on Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, drainage, fire protection and Building Automation System (BAS) upgrade projects being delivered in all regions of Canada. The potential candidate must have good communication skills and a strong technical background in order work independently.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee consultant engineering design on multiple projects including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire-protection and building automation systems.
• The Mechanical Engineer must be able to work independently with minimal supervision to complete project assignments.
• Support Project Delivery Services Project Managers and Workplace Solutions Architects from project initiation to completion
• Advocate for client standards and requirements on projects.
• Support feasibility and assessment studies related to existing HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection and building automation systems related to above.

Knowledge & Skills

• Five (5) to (10) years’ of relevant experience in mechanical engineering and design.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and able to coordinate with Architectural, Electrical and Structural.
• Bilingual with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages (French/English) considered an asset.
• Strong technical background in engineering and construction of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), building controls, plumbing and life safety systems.
• Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and colleagues.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards – such as Provincial and National Building Codes, ASHRAE, ASME, API, ANSI, CSA, etc.
• Strong organization skills.
• Experience in engineering consulting will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work on several projects concurrently.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail.
• Proficient with MS Office products.
• A team player.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel throughout Canada.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

• Licensed Professional Engineer or Certified Technologist in good standing.
