P.Eng Mechanical Engineer - Residential


Specific Responsibilities Will Include Many Of The Following


  • Collaborate with the Team Lead, teammates and Project Managers to provide our clients with finished projects in a timely manner.
  • Resolve mechanical/construction technical issues, cost implications and conflicts with contractors.
  • Collaborate with our integrated and multi-discipline teams to identify appropriate strategies geared towards improving energy performance, indoor air quality, and thermal comfort in new & existing buildings throughout their lifespans.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and Technical Leads to solve interdisciplinary design conflicts.
  • Perform detailed design of HVAC and other mechanical systems for various types of projects.
  • Collaborate on proposals, including defining scope and estimating fees, on selected opportunities.
  • Operate independently on routine projects and oversee work plans and procedures on routine projects.
  • Act as client contact on selected projects.


General Responsibilities Include


  • Perpetuate, clarify and embody WEC Purpose and Core Values
  • Communicate effectively with the Team Lead and Project Manager; this includes collecting and coordinating useful information
  • Facilitate and participate in client meetings
  • Understand and follow WEC Internal Quality Assurance and Control Processes
  • Store and retrieve documents appropriately on the WEC Network
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with other service lines, offices, and teammates
  • Adhere to company policies and guidelines as well as company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.


Education & Experience


  • Minimum 3-8 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical/Architectural Technologist
  • P.Eng


Skills And Capabilities That Would Be Assets


  • Knowledge of and experience with various standards and codes, including building codes, national energy code for buildings, and ASHRAE standards.
  • Specialized knowledge in energy analysis, fuel systems, high/low pressure piping, and/or plumbing.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Application knowledge of MS Office 365, AutoCAD, and Revit MEP.
  • Ability to represent the company to WEC teammates, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • PWGSC and/or RCMP security clearances, or the ability to qualify for them
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
