About the Director, Operations Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO, the Director Operations will be responsible for developing an innovative plan to enhance overall operations for Canada Tire both in the short, medium and long term. They will lead a team that includes an Operations Analyst, Operations Assistant and 3 Supervisors. This includes responsiblity for all 7 Canada Tire DCs, ensuring consistent internal (team member) and external (delivery) standards / SOPs. The position can be based in either Mississauga or the Montreal.

About the Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading operations in multi-site distribution companies, commoditized distribution is preferred. They will have 10+ years of post-graduate experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Ideally, they will be fluently bilingual.

Highly credible and engaging, the ideal candidate will be able to quickly build trust with all levels of the organization. They will have a communication style that is inclusive and transparent. They will take responsibility for their own actions and decisions, be accountable and dependable, and always follow up and deliver. The ideal candidate will be known for their effective business acumen and ability to make sound and seasoned decisions.

The Director must have a “roll-up your sleeves” attitude and high attention to detail, but also be able to be strategic and long-term focused. Adept in new technology, they will be a self-starter, not afraid to think outside the box. Influential and persuasive, they will know how to motivate and empower others and will have experience leading change, including major systems and process changes. They will bring new ideas and question current practices, coming up with practical improvements.

As part of the leadership team, the Director Operations will leverage Canada Tire’s history and past culture with a forward-looking view. They will understand not just where the company has been, but along with the leadership team, provide vision and clarity as to where it can, and should be in the years ahead.
