MacEwan University is seeking an individual for a full-time continuing opportunity as Campus Art Collections Coordinator with the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications.
Reporting to the Art Gallery Curator/Coordinator, the Campus Art Collections Coordinator is responsible for working collaboratively to care for MacEwan University’s campus art collection. This position is responsible for the care and management of the collection including monitoring the condition of artwork, maintaining collection records, and supporting development and implementation of policies and procedures. This position will work closely with the Art Gallery Curator/Coordinator to develop goals and objectives for the permanent collection.
Skills
The successful candidate will have:

• Sound judgment and decision making.
• Knowledge of collections policy, collections management, condition reporting, conservation, and artwork database management.
• Knowledge of computer applications, specifically Microsoft Office, and collections management database.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, artists, professionals within the gallery communities, volunteers, donors and the public.
• An understanding of standard museum principles, practices, and procedures for collections management.
• Knowledge of contemporary and historical art locally, nationally, and internationally.
• The ability to work independently as well as in a team, including collaborating with team members, working with students and interns, art collection committees, and coordinating with professional services.
• Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking ability with keen attention to detail.
• Experience with best practices in artwork handling, installation, and storage.
• The ability to work with minimal supervision.
• The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with respect to historical and contemporary artwork to support public presentations, project proposals, grant submissions, publications and other printed or electronic materials.

Qualifications

• Equivalences may be considered.
• Minimum two years museum gallery experience in art collections and professional-level exhibitions.
• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in arts, art history, collections management or a related field.
