Position Description
The Department of Chemistry, within the Faculty of Science, invites applications for a Fall 2023 Term Sessional Instructor.
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for instruction of one lecture section (30 students) and associated duties for this 3-unit course. Coordinator duties will include:

• Maintenance and/or development of course assessments.
• Supervision and direction of a team of teaching assistant(s) that will directly facilitate the tutorial section(s).
• Maintenance and development of the tutorial material and tutorial assessments.
• Maintenance and development of the course D2L website.

SCIE 423 - Fundamentals of Fuel Cells
Study of science and technology of next generation alternative energy conversion and storage technologies. Includes fundamental aspects of fuel cells, basic electrochemistry, classification of fuel cells, fuel cell performance curves, thermodynamics and kinetics of fuel cells, reforming, electrodes and electrolytes. Understanding the chemical and physical property relationships of fuel cell materials.
Teaching Schedule: MWF 14:00 - 14:50
Delivery Mode: All course components will be delivered in-person.
Fall 2023 Term Dates: August 28, 2023, to December 22, 2023.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, or equivalent educational background, in the subject matter related to the course, and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. The appointees will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry. Previous experience in teaching is an asset. Experience coordinating laboratories and/or teams of graduate student teaching assistants is especially valuable, as is familiarity with the campus learning management system, D2L.
