The Business Process Owner holds a significant opportunity to develop the operations process and technology standards at SSENSE in an innovative, fast paced and collaborative culture. Reporting to the Senior Director of Network Planning, they will be responsible for building and optimizing our end to end operations processes across Supplier, Logistics and Transportation, Fulfillment Center, Retail and Studio functions by implementing and sustaining process standards across our end to end network. They will collaborate and partner with key decision-makers in the Operations Team, internal technology functions and subcontract partners to ensure a best-in-class fulfillment experience, setting a high standard for safety, customer experience, employee engagement, quality and cost. The immediate focus will be to support the launch of our state of the art automated Fulfillment Center and continued optimization of our studio operation in Montreal. These initiatives are the heart of a multi-million dollar automation and software investment program and are due to go live in fall 2022. The incumbent will ensure processes and technology standards are clearly defined ahead of our network expansion plans across North America, EU and Asia over the coming 1-3 years.
Continuous Improvement (60%)
- Strive for perfection, delivering solutions that provide our customers with a best in class product and service
- Lead and deliver continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance and enhance operational capacity
- Deliver tangible financial savings through Operational Excellence processes
- Identify areas for strategic improvement and lead kaizen events to deliver the changes required
- Perform root cause analysis to identify performance gaps and proactively implement changes to bridge said gaps
- Remain abreast of industry best practices and act as a subject matter expert in flow management tools, and processes, and how they interconnect with the different process paths within the FC Operations
- Identify and rectify issues and processes that impact quality such as DPMO
- Optimize the storage space utilization in line with the seasonal changes and accommodate variations in growth strategies
- Partner with product managers and technology teams to develop ‘pod’ approach to optimization
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer focus in all areas and instill the principles of this culture
- Work with managers and peers on the implementation of continuous improvement strategies and problem solving
Process Support & Governance (20%)
- Ensure consistency, visibility and sustainable performance by working with our operations teams to deliver and maintain the highest levels of efficiency and accuracy
- Ensure all areas of our business operate in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible manner in accordance with all applicable regulations
- Champion the adherence to all Health & Safety and quality standards
- Monitor business trends and implement proactive measures to ensure consistent operational performance
- Learn, share, and adopt best practices within the operations teams to ensure maximum operational effectiveness
- Support the delivery of the key metrics for each process area and develop plans for optimization and improvement where required
- Support operational teams in delivering the lowest possible operating costs and the highest level of customer service.
Re-Engineering (10%)
- Work with technology teams to ensure that new developments are utilizing the appropriate best practice or process in any new design
- Support promotional campaigns by developing and implementing ‘pop up’ facilities in order to meet business requirements
- Support of new developments in our fulfillment operations, where an entirely new process, solution or different operational approach is required
- Strong data analytic background with the ability to run complex analysis independently
- Experience with a global network with multiple Fulfillment Centers
- Customer and Quality focused with an eye for detail
- Proven track record of increasing capacity through root cause problem solving by maximizing efficiency, waste elimination and engineering excellence
- Bachelors in Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, Information Technology, Mathematics or a relevant subject
- Passion for optimizing operations and the ability to engage impacted stakeholders in change
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black belt preferred
- Superior verbal, presentation and written communication skills in English, bilingualism an asset
- 3+ years’ experience in an e-commerce, engineering, manufacturing and logistics whilst in a continuous improvement position
- Experience working in an agile project management environment preferred
- Fashion and/or luxury experience is an asset
- Strong experience with platforms/tech stacks such as WMS, Shipping Systems and OMS
