Job Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Canadian Banking Finance – Retail Distribution and Small Business Banking in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Manager, Finance, Retail Distribution & Small Business Banking contributes to the success of the team's objective by working with the directors and senior managers in providing accurate, detailed and timely financial analysis. Inclusive of planning, forecasting, reporting and ad hoc requests.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:


Assist in the consolidation and analysis of Retail Distribution & Small Business reporting, forecasting, and planning processes:


  • Ensure applicable models reflect account line item or organizational restructure for each reporting/ forecasting/plan cycle and to ensure all updates are reflected in the forecasting systems (Hyperion and PEAK)
  • Support the timely delivery of forecasts and profit plans, including: Post-quarter forecasts, Pre-quarter forecasts, Quarter End reasonability, Stress Testing, and Annual Profit plan
  • Independently roll forward reports and models required the complete the consolidation of Sales-to-Revenue (i.e. front book revenue) translation by product and Regional Non-Interest Expenses (NIE) with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Support the maintenance of applicable models and mapping files
  • Coordinate with business lines and product groups to provide a complete and accurate Retail Banking and Small Business financial analysis, as well as assist in identifying key trends and variances
  • Independently roll forward executive reports included in the forecasting/ plan deck, blue book and monthly distribution with accuracy and in a timely manner


Assist In Change Management Projects & Ad Hoc Reporting


  • Assist with the re-design, simplification, and automation of existing financial models, reporting and dashboards.
  • Support in detailed data and operating process validation
  • Support build out of complement reporting
  • Become one of the subject matter experts for training and responding to inquiries from the business line finance teams
  • Support in building reporting requirements by mapping financial data from operating systems (e.g. OBI/EGL, Hyperion, PEAK. MBR)

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role.
  • A solid understanding of financial and management reporting principles; familiarity with the Bank's products, operations and procedures
  • Post-secondary degree in Finance or Accounting. Completion of, or working towards a CPA or CFA is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (listening, documentation, and presentation skills) and organization skills to effectively assist in coordinating information with business lines and support teams
  • Strong sense of self-awareness and drive to work in a performance driven, results-oriented team
  • Experience with Oracle, Smartview, and Hyperion a strong asset
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Highly analytical, strong problem-solving skills and detailed oriented to assist in strategic financial analysis
  • Highly flexible and strong ability to multi-task to be able to strive in a continuously changing environment with rigorous deadlines with accuracy and completeness
  • Will require over-time during peak periods – quarter-end, forecasting and plan cycles
