Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Business Development Specialist (Energy Solutions) to join their Energy Management & Sustainability group. They are a dedicated team passionate about assisting clients in the ESCO, Commercial, Industrial, and Education sectors in achieving their energy management and sustainability goals. The primary focus of this role is to promote and sell our comprehensive E-mobility solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize the company’s sales process and CRM system (Salesforce) to manage the sales pipeline and maintain complete records of all customer activities.
- Cultivate effective business relationships and communicate the full scope of our solutions and services to meet customer energy management and sustainability requirements.
- Offer national support for client events, including seminars and webinars.
- Build strategic relationships to understand the EV Charging infrastructure market, anticipate changes in the competitive landscape, and identify new opportunities.
- Professionally represent the Energy Solutions Team while promoting e-mobility solutions.
- Lead and manage the sales process, from uncovering and qualifying opportunities to analyzing customer needs through facility audits and discussions, developing and presenting solutions that address the customer’s business and financial requirements, and ultimately closing deals. Serve as the key point of contact during the pre-sales phase.
- Stay updated on professional and technical knowledge of various energy management solutions and service offerings, as well as market developments, through attending workshops and trade shows, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- Manage customer and company expectations during contract negotiations, including commercial terms, delivery, payment schedule, insurance requirements, etc.
- Deliver compelling proposals and presentations to customers, ensuring necessary follow-up for successful closure of sales.
- Conduct research and analyze potential customers to develop action plans and generate new business opportunities through lead-generation activities for our products and services.
- Regularly engage with customers to pursue additional sales opportunities.
- Provide national EV support and education for the Energy Solutions Team.
- Coordinate the smooth transfer of responsibilities to project management and operations teams after a sale, ensuring complete customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain an active sales pipeline to meet or exceed sales quotas.
- Understand the competition’s go-to-market and pricing strategies, developing effective strategies to combat them.
- Request market-level/competitive pricing from suppliers and generate cost estimates for proposed solutions.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
- High level of initiative, ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with minimal direction.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form, credibly and effectively presenting and influencing at all levels of the customer's organization, including top management.
- Familiarity with Electric Vehicles, Energy, and decarbonization, ideally with previous work experience at an EV charger manufacturer or EV software developer/provider.
- Active listener who is assertive, authentic, open-minded, and empathetic.
- Preferred degree in engineering, technology, or business administration.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of EV technologies, including both hardware and software solutions, as well as infrastructure requirements for successful installations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Self-starter with excellent relationship-building skills that foster trust with customers, manufacturers, and support staff, resulting in measurable progression of opportunities through the sales pipeline.
- Ability to collaborate with customers, manufacturers, and support staff to provide solutions that convert into sales.
- Demonstrated sales success and a solid understanding of consultative and business value selling, delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.
- Proven sales or marketing experience of 3 to 5 years, specifically in promoting and selling EV solutions.
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
