Victoria Butterfly Gardens is in search of a passionate and motivated Business Development Manager to join our team!

Job Purpose:

The Business Development Manager reports to the General Manager for Victoria Butterfly Gardens and is responsible for driving top line revenue growth in collaboration with the General Manager (GM), and the Sr. Marketing Manager. The Business Development Manager will act as a brand representative and ambassador for Victoria Butterfly Gardens while promoting the unique business offerings and will build and maintain strong relationships while acting as the primary liaison with existing and prospective customers.


The ultimate goal for the Business Development Manager is to drive top line revenue growth, by way of partnerships, associations, and creative initiatives. The Business Development Manager will play a key role putting Victoria Butterfly Gardens on the Map of destinations to visit for locals and tourists alike.

Key Responsibilities

  • Present cross-promotional opportunities to MM for possible participation as they become available, actively cross-sell wherever possible.
  • Relationship management with Destination Greater Victoria and other destination management organizations (DMOs).
  • Such other duties as are customarily performed by one holding the position of a Business Development Manager in businesses that are similar to Victoria Butterfly Gardens.
  • Maintain accurate records of existing contracts and leads.
  • Actively monitor and share information on trends, competitors, and market changes.
  • Serve as a Brand Ambassador for the Victoria Butterfly Gardens and The Truffles Group.
  • Attend tourism-related meetings, networking events and tradeshows as a representative of Victoria Butterfly Gardens (specifics to be agreed upon with GM/MM), perform all required preparation and follow up.
  • Actively seek out new target markets, customer bases and other growth opportunities to increase top line revenue (based on strategic direction from GM).
  • Development of sales collateral in collaboration with The Truffles Group marketing team, including segmentation for different markets.
  • Provide regular reporting on activities to GM, attend meetings as required.
  • Visit hotels in Victoria and surrounding areas to promote Victoria Butterfly Gardens with front-line staff.
  • Relationship management with all existing industry partners and clients.
  • Always maintain the brand integrity of Victoria Butterfly Gardens and The Truffles Group.
  • Schedule familiarization tours as required.
  • In conjunction with the GM and Sr. Marketing Manager, know and understand our guest base and drive business to them and to new segments.
  • Manage all sales-related correspondence (tour group enquiries, FIT, school groups), provide rates/terms for inquiries, manage sales contracts as required including resolving issues as they arise.


Education, Skills and Qualifications:

· 7+ years’ experience working in a related results-driven sales role, OR combination of education and experience working in a related results-driven sales role.

· Valid Drivers Licence, personal vehicle, and the ability to travel

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Friendly, outgoing, and approachable personality

· Creative, innovative, and genuine sales approach

· Highly professional and self-motivated

· Strong public speaker and presenter

· Proven track record with influencing and growing top line sales

· Highly organized, excellent time management skills

· Exceptional analytical and negotiation skills
