Opportunity Summary
The Business Development Manager will drive new business, leveraging your existing construction industry relationships and building new connections, becoming an integral part of British Columbia's growth. We are looking for a goal-oriented, experienced business development lead to bring in new leads and win new projects.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide input and action toward our strategic plan to achieve our collective goals for the British Columbia region.
- Evaluate potential project opportunities, review the specifications, lead Go/No Go meetings, and leverage your intel to advise the team as to whether we should pursue projects.
- Represent the company at external events to grow brand awareness and build new connections.
- Maintain awareness of current local marketplace and trends to gain and maintain our competitive advantage and develop effective pursuit strategies.
- Track and enter information about opportunities, potential clients, and RFQ/RFP/Tenders in the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database.
- Develop an understanding of the client’s goals, needs, concerns, and project drivers and clearly communicate this to internal stakeholders to help develop a bid-to-win strategy.
- Be engaged in proposal preparation for RFQ/RFP submissions, providing input/intel to the team, and providing detailed reviews and feedback on the proposal during the review process.
- Lead meetings with prospective clients; working with project teams to prepare and deliver presentations on service offerings highlighting the value propositions of Hallmark Hardware.
- Lead bi-weekly Business Development (BD) Meetings, where you’ll update the wider management team on the pipeline- leads, the status of RFQ/RFP submissions, and developing opportunities.
- Leverage your existing relationships and build new ones, acting as the main point of contact with the client to bring in new leads.

Qualifications
- Proven knowledge and execution of successful development strategies
- Ability to source and build new relationships, from prospecting to securing introductory meetings and developing relationships with new potential clients.
- Experience using CRM system
- Customer-oriented, strategic thinker and strong negotiation skills
- Excellent relationship and team-building skills
- Ability to analyze problems and create solutions
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- A strong network of potential clients in key growth sectors for our firm: private sector for multi-family residential, commercial office, and hospitality. For the public sector, connections in the post-secondary and municipal, institutional, and detention sectors would be an asset.
- 3-5 years of business development experience within the building materials, construction, or commercial real estate/residential developer industry. We will also consider sub-trade general construction-related industry experience.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Results-driven mindset and ability to drive initiatives
- Proven track record of leading successful sales pursuits.
- Focused and goal-oriented
- Organized, perceptive self-starter who can secure new work and make adjustments for industry trends, market swings, and competitor activities.
