Associate Director/Director - Portfolio Management

The Associate Director / Director – Portfolio Management will act as administrative agent and relationship manager for a portfolio of high-quality debt and equity project financing transactions in the Canadian infrastructure, real estate, and seniors housing sectors - including infrastructure, PPPs, renewable power, residential/commercial/institutional real estate, and long-term care and private-pay seniors housing projects. The role will provide the successful candidate with significant exposure to transactions in both the private placement debt market, as well as in private equity, and exposure to multiple areas of the investment process through working closely with the Investment Origination team – providing the successful candidate with significant opportunity for growth and advancement to more senior positions as Sencap’s investment portfolio grows.The successful candidate will be involved in: investment due diligence and closing of financing transactions (along with the Investment Origination team), acting as Portfolio Manager and Administrative Agent – as the lead team member responsible for maintaining client relationships, administering loan advances and draws, handling client requests, completing periodic investment reviews, and maintaining investment documentation and collateral.

Job Duties:

The Associate Director / Director – Portfolio Management will be responsible for the following:

-Assisting with process and policy development for the Portfolio Management team.

-Understanding transaction structures by working alongside the Investment Origination team during the deal origination/arrangement/closing stages of each financing.

-Acting as Portfolio Manager and Administrative Agent for a portfolio of approximately 15-20 Sencap investments.

-Training and oversight of junior members of the Portfolio Management team.

-As Administrative Agent, be responsible for administering loan advances/draws, ensuring borrower compliance under loan agreements, acting as liaison between the borrower, lenders, and lender advisors, handling client and lender requests, maintaining all transaction documentation and collateral and overseeing the handling of all loan payments.

-As Portfolio Manager, be responsible for monitoring general sector specific news and risks, performing quarterly and annual investment reviews, providing Sencap management with updates on portfolio issues and trends.

-Being the day-to-day contact and relationship manager for Sencap clients in their portfolio.

Job Qualifications:

-Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5-7 years of credit risk, account/portfolio management, or middle office experience, within any of the following areas: commercial/corporate banking; project finance; investment banking/private equity; private placement fixed income/debt capital markets.

-Candidates with an understanding of and experience in project finance (power and/or infrastructure and/or real estate) preferred.

-Undergraduate degree in business administration/commerce or MBA, with a concentration in finance, or equivalent university level education.

-Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel required.

-Strong written and verbal communication skills.

-Candidates bilingual in English and French will be considered favourably.
