The Digital Strategy & Transformation (DST) team requires a new student team member to join us to support the priority areas on our transformation journey. We are looking for a meticulous and analytically minded student to join our Data & Technology (D&T) group in Toronto and help support our


Cost Transparency Initiative alongside the Portfolio & Financial Management function. We are an energetic, innovative team leading the Data & Technology portfolio and financial governance with a focus on value delivery management. This is an exciting opportunity for an eager new professional looking to gain experience across multiple disciplines including portfolio & finance strategy and management, project management, automation, and reporting.


Working with the Portfolio & Financial Management team, you will collaborate with cross functional teams, work with the team leader to gather cost-related information, analyze and model data, and prepare detailed reports and presentations for management outlining cost insights, trends, and recommendations for optimizing resource allocation. This individual will have a rare opportunity to contribute in key strategic areas while gaining experience and a diverse skillset across multiple disciplines. You will learn to facilitate workshops, design reports for business leaders, and build in-depth costing models.


Job Responsibilities


  • Support Cost Transparency Program – IT Cost Benchmarking
  • Perform comprehensive reviews of cost drivers, cost structures, and cost allocation methodologies to enhance accuracy and transparency.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to enhance data collection, processing, and reporting capabilities for cost-related data.
  • Assist with D&T PO process
  • Participate in the development of cost-related KPIs and dashboards to provide real-time visibility into cost performance.
  • Invoice coding and approval tracking in AP system
  • Analyze cost trends, patterns, and outliers to uncover opportunities for operational improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management, outlining cost insights, trends, and recommendations for optimizing resource allocation.
  • Conduct in-depth cost variance analysis to track deviations from budgeted and forecasted costs, investigating underlying causes and proposing corrective actions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend solutions to streamline operations while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain cost analysis models to identify, categorize, and allocate direct and indirect costs accurately.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather cost-related data from different departments and operational areas.
  • Assist in ad-hoc financial projects that involve cost analysis and process improvement.


You should apply if


  • An ability to build good visual and/or user experience designs for financial models
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices – budget vs actuals, forecasting, report creation
  • Completed at least 1-2 previous work terms with positive feedback from your manager(s)
  • Good collaboration skills, are a helpful teammate, and are a proactive contributor
  • An ability to build metrics or dashboards for reporting purposes
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree
  • Are proficient with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Bonus points for AP/Finance tools such as Basware and Oracle.
