Director, Data Strategy & Management



What's the opportunity?


As the Director, Data Strategy & Management, you will be responsible for leading a multi-functional data management team in the development and implementation of Fraud Management’s (FM) data and technology strategy. You will be responsible for the development and execution of the strategic roadmap for data and technology in Fraud Management, sponsoring data initiatives to integrate new data sources, oversee the development of data pipelines etc. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of seniority, govern Fraud data by serving as the Data Steward, and lead the operationalization of the Fraud Data Domain.


What will you do?


  • Manage DSA-owned data assets, ensuring access controls are implemented down to the data element level to enable sharing with external partners while effectively maintaining permissions
  • Accountable for data requirements on business-led and Fraud-led projects, and for making recommendations in support of DSA contributions on all projects and initiatives
  • Develop analytics-focused data resources, leading data initiatives to integrate new data sources, planning, researching, business casing, sponsoring, and prioritizing the acquisition, optimization and maintenance of data and technologies
  • Lead a multi-functional Data Management team responsible for developing and executing Fraud Management’s data and technology strategy, data initiatives, and data engineering architecture
  • Provide subject matter expertise during project planning, prioritization, and the creation of test plans and playbooks, ensuring a seamless transition of project knowledge to Product Owners and End Users
  • Provide oversight on FM’s data strategy, including planning the acquisition of new sources of data, maintenance of Fraud’s data catalog and researching, business casing and sponsoring initiatives to onboard future data resources and technologies
  • Head a team responsible for enabling other members of the DSA team through data governance, initiative documentation and developing resilient data sets built to accommodate multiple analytic objectives
  • Identify opportunities to improve platform/infrastructure, governance, architecture, data quality, and lineage and develop FM’s Robust Analytics Environment, improving efficiency for end user experiments, insights, and analytics work


What You Need To Succeed


Must have:


  • Strong data management skills, and an understanding of data lifecycle, including data governance
  • 2+ years’ experience in relevant product/service domain (i.e. Fraud)
  • Demonstrated ability to impact and influence peers, partners and stakeholders
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to manage through ambiguity, applying good judgment, tact, discretion and complex decision-making abilities
  • Proven experience with analytical software packages and various programming languages
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate analytical concepts and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Full comprehension of the technical architecture that underpins the Fraud Decisioning Ecosystem as well as how this ecosystem supports the day-to-day detection requirements of DSA
  • Data analytics expertise, with an understanding of common enterprise technologies and approaches Strong problem solving, research, quantitative skills and working knowledge of big data and cloud platforms, data architectures and tools
  • Proven ability to think big picture strategy and lead initiatives in a business operations environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing for greatest impact
  • 7+ years’ related work experience in Product Management, Data Governance, Business Analyst
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, Marketing, Engineering, quantitative discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience working in an Agile / technology environment, understanding of technical concepts and familiarity with User Experience
  • Exceptional demonstration of Leadership Model capabilities and a proven ability to actively foster psychologically safe working environments


Nice to have:


  • Certified Product Owner, Agile or SAFE Certification
  • Fraud Management experience
  • Knowledge of data used within fraud management
  • Knowledge of Fraud products and Fraud-related application
  • Graduate degree, MA or MBA in a quantitative discipline
