ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Toronto Store

Status: Full-Time

Position Summary: The Assistant General Manager is the right hand to the General Manager and directly manages the operational efficiencies of the store staff and customer experience. The Assistant General Manager drives for effective and efficient operational results in all customer facing areas. They facilitate and manage staff training, development, and communicate directly through the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensures the consistency of operational processes and execution.
• Oversight of store maintenance and facilities. (Ensures store mechanical equipment is in good standing, manages vendor reach out on any necessary works, ensure cleaning guidelines are be upheld across the building).
• Guide work activities during the day, inclusive of before and after normal store operating hours.
• Creates developmental plans to create an engaged and evolving work environment.
• Assists the management team to achieve performance goals and execute standard operating procedures.
• Executes initiatives designed to drive customer satisfaction and business efficiencies.
• Supports the store management to ensure work tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist store management team with housekeeping responsibilities including but not limited to, dusting, sweeping, collection of trash, and other tasks traditionally associated with standard retail operations.
• Guides processes and completes work based on management direction for functional areas within the store.
• Leads store staff training initiatives and development.
• Manages store administered responsibilities (Store scheduling, instore human resource, payroll).

Special Projects/Tasks:

• Host any store visits or VIP shopping experiences.
• Provide high-level business insight at the request of HQ business partners.
• Ensure all in-store facilities are properly and safely working and communicating any issues that need immediate attention with the appropriate parties.
• Lead any Store visits in the absence of the General Manager.
• Assist with Inventory counts as business needs require.
• Assist with delivering Product Knowledge or Brand Education to store team.

REQUIREMENTS

Availability:

• Open & flexible availability, including but not limited to evenings, overnights, and weekends as well as Holidays.

Experience:

• 3+ years of retail/apparel operations experience
• 2+ years leading a team of Managers and/or Supervisors
• 4-5 years of management experience in a customer-facing role
• 1+ years in a commission-based environment is a plus

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to perform business math and simple business accounting
• Standing/Walking for prolonged periods of time
• Thorough communication and comfortable delegating tasks and responsibilities
• Bending, twisting as well as climbing of ladders and other physical tasks related to standard retail operations
• Comprehensive computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and Point of Sales systems
• Lifting or moving up to 30 pounds
• Ability to efficiently multitask and manage multiple projects at once
