Job Description

Maxis is looking for a General Manager to lead the newest entry to The Sims franchise, code named Project Rene, through development and into live services. You possess extensive experience leading creative teams to deliver delightful experiences, strong live service and commercial acumen, and have a bias toward action and results in a matrixed environment. Your leadership style aligns with the Maxis values: be authentic, champion inclusivity, create collaboratively, and challenge ourselves, and you have an affinity for The Sims audience.


Reporting to the Franchise GM, you will lead this new business and own what will eventually represent a substantial p&l. You will align the efforts of studio teams and central partners to deliver on our strategic and financial objectives and ensure this game is a success. You will be a part of the Sims Franchise leadership team, and contribute to the success of the franchise strategy.


In this role, you will


  • Embrace radical transparency with our players, including early playtesting and iterative development.
  • Ensure we have the right people, structures, and priorities with the necessary stakeholder alignment across EA to deliver our business and creative objectives
  • Establish and deliver on roadmaps that align product, marketing, and commercial efforts and can flex to meet the dynamic needs of our business
  • Make insight-and data-based decisions to deliver on business objectives
  • Be accountable for the objectives and key results of Project Rene, including financial, strategic, quality, and team health
  • Communicate with stakeholders to advocate for needs of Project Rene


Required Qualifications


  • You have 10+ years of Experience recruiting and developing best-in-class teams.
  • You have worked within a matrixed environment, communicating and achieving agreement through influence
  • You can see the forest through the trees: you focus on the bigger picture, but can dive into the details where needed. You have demonstrated experience making and communicating high-stakes choices leveraging data, research, and experience and have a healthy relationship with your mistakes.
  • You have delivered results setting and executing strategy for a multi-channel entertainment/media business at scale ($200M+), making tough decisions with imperfect information. You have experience with live service businesses, and have shipped new products on multiple platforms (including mobile).
  • You have successfully led a large team (100+ people), helping them focus and make decisions balancing player feedback, creative choices, and business decisions. You know what it takes to build and nurture an A Team.
  • A leadership style that aligns with our values, with 5+ years of experience leading large (100+) and distributed creative teams.


US Compensation And Benefits


The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs


Base Salary Ranges


  • Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs): º $206,200 - $291,900
  • Jersey City, NJ: º $241,250 - $331,200
  • Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane): º $206,200 - $308,750
  • California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento): º $228,100 - $331,200
  • New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo): º $206,200 - $331,200


Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby (following 1 year of service), medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity."
