The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Operations Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant will assist with the overall maintenance of our downtown portfolio as well as responding to tenant requests. A significant amount of the Maintenance Assistant's time will be spent at a single site (300 Main Street). Primary duties include:

• Cooperating with Building Operators and Tradespeople to complete work.
• Repairing minor defects, including plumbing, patching drywall, and changing lightbulbs.
• Building fire and safety plans.
• Completing filter changes on HVAC units.
• Maintaining mechanical and electrical rooms.
• Completing scheduled maintenance on HVAC units.
• Responding to tenant requests.
• Maintaining compliance with:
• Building standards and efficiency; and
• Repairs and maintenance schedules;

Your Technical Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• 2+ years of general maintenance experience doing a variety of work including light maintenance of HVAC equipment such as filter changes.
• Effective problem solving skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance and cleared criminal record check.
• Proficient in working safely on ladders of various heights.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• WHMIS, CPR, First Aid qualified (within the last 3 years).
• Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs unassisted.
• High school diploma, required.
• Willingness to work off-shift or overtime, if required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Individual will walk, climb ladders, stand, stretch, reach, bend, hold, sit and perform physical tasks for sustained periods. Good eyesight required. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Noise level in work environment is moderate.
