We currently have a contract opening in our SRD Underwriting Department reporting to our Ottawa office for a Bilingual Underwriter starting as soon as possible.

We will count on you to:

• Review and analyze submissions
• Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers
• Assess exposure and determine rates, terms and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines
• Service current accounts
• Maintain an awareness of market conditions, profitability initiatives and competitions
• Authorize transmittal of documents to brokers and markets as required
• Assist more experienced underwriters with administrative tasks and support
• Perform other related duties as requires
• Develop and maintain an awareness of claims and exposures
• Prepare and maintain periodic reports pertinent to the ongoing operation
• Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper analysis of risk including cross-referencing with other departments

What you need to have:

• Fluently bilingual in both written and oral French is required
• Outstanding customer service and negotiation skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to effectively function in a team environment
• Analytical, logical, organized and decisive
• Computer literate in Word, Excel and Outlook
• Completed a Bachelor's degree majoring in insurance, commerce, business, business administration, economics, finance, statistics, accounting, mathematics, preferred by Spring 2023
• Work experience in insurance or related industry
