Job Purpose:
The New Digital Platform (NDP) and Market-Creating Innovation (MCI) teams are at the centre of WVC’s innovation hub. We are focused on building a digitally enabled organization and exploring new engagement and market opportunities to help everyone be a philanthropist. We work in agile with a lean startup approach and design thinking, asking our team of developers, designers, advisors, and experts to think beyond and find effective and efficient technology-infused solutions that put people at the centre of everything that we deliver. Our work will be instrumental in laying the foundation to build a new digital ecosystem for WVC.
As a Solutions Architect, your primary responsibility is to lead the technical design and development of the digital platform and support ongoing initiatives set in new digital markets.
You will work closely with the product owner, development team, and other stakeholders to define the technical architecture and infrastructure of the platform, ensuring that it meets the organization's goals, strategic priorities, and technical requirements. Your role is critical in ensuring that the platform is scalable, secure, and optimized for performance, while remaining user-friendly and accessible to a diverse range of users.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the technical roadmap, defining technical requirements, and working with the development team to ensure that technical features are delivered on time and within budget. You will also be responsible for conducting technical research, analyzing data, and providing insights that inform the development of the technical architecture and infrastructure.
As a key member of the incubator team, you will help to identify and mitigate technical risks, and ensure that the platform is launched successfully, meeting the needs of its users and achieving its business goals. Your ability to think strategically, communicate effectively, and collaborate with cross-functional teams will be essential to the success of the platform and the incubator team.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Define and communicate the technical vision and strategy for software development projects.
• Lead the design and development of complex software systems, ensuring that they meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, issues, and challenges.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Create and maintain technical documentation such as architecture diagrams, code standards, and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other members of the development team.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of coding standards.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in software development and architecture
• Ensure that software development projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to technical specifications.

Qualifications:

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• You can provide technical guidance to the teams and partners; schedule activities and explain/document procedures related to the solution architecture and integrations.
• Experience with database design and management (such as MySQL, Oracle).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field such as computer science, engineering, or information technology.
• Experience with multiple programming languages and platforms (such as PHP, .NET, or Node.js).
• You have designed and built complex API-based solutions and transactional systems for enterprise-wide solutions.
• Adept in open source technologies, mobile development and common authentication technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and services (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• You can research and recommend innovative systems solution alternatives and integration strategies.
• Strong knowledge of technical security and product management best practices.
• Strong experience in software development and architecture, with at least 5-10 years of experience in the field.
• Skilled in applying industry best practices and standards to various aspects of software and systems engineering, design and development tools, and software lifecycle methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of current industry standards and practices related to architecture, automation, and process integration, allowing teams to develop, test, and release product features more efficiently.
