Senior Property Accountant Jobs

Westdell Development Corp. is a commercial and residential development company based in London, Ontario that has been developing and managing a growing portfolio of Commercial, Office and Residential Properties for over 25 years. The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting and budgeting, tenant reconciliations, MRI software, and customer billing. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.

Property Accountant Job Duties:

• Set up tenant lease information/recoveries in MRI.
• Respond to client queries
• Maintain and complete monthly reporting, including the preparation of Bank and HST Reconciliations, monthly journal entries, maintaining financial statements, etc.
• Review rent rolls.
• Provide support to the Controller & President as required.
• Maintain the property management books for the assigned commercial portfolio(s).
• Reconcile A/P and A/R
• Overseeing common area expense reconciliations and budgets, property taxes, insurance, and management fees.
• Prepare and maintain Tenant accounting information.
• Prepare year-end audit working paper files with supporting schedules/documents.
• Coordinate and work with accounting team to ensure deadlines are met.
• Review assessments and correspond with the CRA on various issues
• Challenge key assumptions based on actual trends, knowledge of the business model, and the need to continuously improve overall profitability.
• Set up property and building information in MRI.

Skills and Qualifications:

• A strong understanding of CAM and Tax recoveries, being able to calculate and record the tenant unbilled operating costs and property tax amounts on a monthly basis.
• A University degree or college diploma, preferably in Accounting.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, able to use pivot tables and complex financial formulas.
• Experience in building and maintaining exceptional client relationships
• Proficient in MRI software would be considered an asset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• 3-5 years of progressive property accounting experience within the commercial real estate industry (required).
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as individually as required.

Schedule/Workplace:

• Work is to be performed in the office, located in London, Ontario.
• 8:30am– 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
