We are looking for an ambitiousJunior Accountantto provide support to the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. The role will report to a team of professionals working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances. The successful candidate will directly assist the accounting managers with both the daily activities, as well as month/yearly closing functions and will gain exposure to dealing with multiple entities, including a charitable foundation.
Job Type: Permanent, On-Site
Schedule: 8am – 5pm (Mon-Fri)
Reports To: Accounting Manager
Main Responsibilities
·Daily review of bank activity and verification.
·Review and submit weekly electronic payments, ACH, bill payment, wires, etc.
·Post all journal entries as submitted by management.
·Monitor AR & AP subledgers to ensure that outstanding and/or older items are addressed.
·Completion of bank reconciliation (monthly) and periodic cash flow reports as instructed by management.
·Responsible for maintaining vendor setup and banking information.
·Processing corporate credit card statements and staff expense reports.
·Assist in month end process by preparing various account reconciliations and other analysis instructed by management.
·Managing leases for parent and subsidiary companies.
·Responsible for HST, QST, Corp Tax, WSIB, and other tax filings.
·Preparing ad hoc reports/statements as requested.
·Assisting external auditors during year-end audits.
·Preparing payroll for subsidiary company.
·Daily/weekly yard check & tonnage report compilation.
·Bank reconciliations for multiple companies.
·Preparing monthly and annual financial statements for parent company and subsidiaries.
·Preparing intercompany and external rent/chargeback billings as required.
Requirements & Skills
·Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 1 year of experience.
·Proficient in Excel and Microsoft applications.
·Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
·Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
·Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions and implement recommend course of action.
·Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member.
·Experience in Truckmate and ACCPAC considered an asset.
