Are you looking for an opportunity that will allow you to advance?
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant that will transition into the Controller role.
Reporting to the C.F.O., as the Senior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in our client’s organization, overseeing various accounting functions and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, along with extensive experience in financial reporting, financial statements, accounting skills, and financial analysis. Experience working within a distribution company is a must.
Responsibilities
• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate and timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial statements as required. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis results.
• General Accounting: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing activities. Ensure adherence to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
• Audit Support: Assist in the coordination and preparation of audit engagements, including liaising with external auditors, providing necessary documentation, and addressing audit inquiries. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and resolve any identified issues.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes, enhancing efficiency, and implementing best practices. Make recommendations for process improvements and contribute to their implementation.
• Compliance and Regulation: Stay up to date with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices. Ensure compliance with applicable financial reporting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and other departments, to gather necessary financial information, support business initiatives, and provide financial expertise.
• Other: other duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and GAAP principles.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, including trend analysis, ratio analysis, and variance analysis.
• Solid understanding of accounting software systems and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· Experience working for a distribution or manufacturing company.
