The Team

Projects Delivery and Support (PD&S) is a centralized project management office that supports various technology and business teams across the bank. As a Sr. project coordinator, you will contribute to the overall success of PD&S ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. You will work in a culturally diverse environment while ensuring all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Forecast accruals are entered in the appropriate tools prior to the monthly cycles
• Establish scope of the project; monitor and control scope to ensuring focus on delivery.
• Partner with the EPMO team to develop and execute a plan to improve business processes
• Manage and has ownership for the reporting for all work packages within the project.
• Manage the project budget by contributing to monthly forecasts, quarterly accruals, and year end carry forwards
• Conduct appropriate status review sessions and escalate issues as necessary
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure business needs and outcomes of the project are achieved
• Provide consulting on project initiatives including business case preparation and developing creative/alternative approaches to problem resolution
• Develop a strong partnership with the Business Sponsor to gain strong understanding of requirements, sustain open dialogue to manage product backlog & benefits
• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Provide timely and accurate updates to the project manager and leadership teams as warranted
• Create project plans and manage dependencies in accordance with project team needs
• Owning the direct planning, scheduling, resourcing, risk assessment, cost/benefit analysis, milestones determination, and final deliverables definitions
• Identify resource requirements, set expectations, and manage stakeholders
• Ensure SLA’s are meet for financial monthly and quarterly reports, and drive to meet KPI’s
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?

• Financial accounting background is an asset
• Willing to receive comprehensive training to learn and develop new and/or existing skills
• Strong communication (verbal/written/presentation), relationship building and analytical skills
• Advanced experience with MS Excel and MS PowerPoint and enjoys creating presentations for executive management
• An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience is required
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of project coordination/management experience
• Knowledge of project management tools (e.g., CA PPM) and techniques
• PMP desirable.
• Must have previous or current work experience in the financial services industry
• Strong financial management experience with program/project budgets
