Job Description
The Opportunity


Project: The program is the largest transit infrastructure program in Canadian history. The program will transform rail services in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA), providing two-way all-day train service and improved passenger experience with quieter and faster electric locomotives. The program includes early works, off-corridor station and infrastructure upgrades, as well as an On-Corridor program to deliver new tracks, platforms, facilities, grade separations and electrification.

Your Responsibilities Will Include


  • Interacting with clients and other stakeholders to ensure that objectives are being met.
  • Managing external relationships important for project delivery (e.g., statutory authorities).
  • Building and maintaining networks with peer project teams and other disciplines.
  • Understanding key performance indicator monitoring and engagement, directly linked to monthly measurement criteria established.
  • Recommending and initiating change to project delivery plans, identify areas of improvement to put forward to relevant area in business and operating processes.
  • Being safety leader across all project delivery works.
  • Supporting the project controls centre and team to maintain up to date metrics on performance across the entire programme.
  • Providing proactive approach to engaging with the various PDT’s.
  • Supporting the corridor lead in leading a major multi-disciplinary team of engineering manager, project manager/s and deputy project manager/s, including other specialists as the rise occurs.
  • Engaging proactively with the project delivery teams (PDT’s) to understand any positives and/or negatives, and work with the teams to develop resolutions that are best for programme.
  • Utilizing their previous experience to drive a culture of best practice for health, safety, wellbeing, and quality across the programme.
  • Managing activities with significant uncertainty of solution or outcome.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of implementation plans, establishing commercially beneficial delivery models and leading on innovation and best practice.
  • Taking ownership on projects/scope under their control, as designated by the corridor lead.
  • Monitoring work assignments for adherence to timelines and compliance with policies and processes.
  • Understanding resource management, interface and constraints management.
  • Reporting to the corridor lead, the project manager will support with developing and providing leadership to the team on one of the specified rail corridors on the program, to ensure the best outcomes for the coordinated team.

About You


You have solid understanding of construction methodology, innovative methods of delivery, technology, data management, planning, delivery, site logistics, commercial and legal/contract issues. You have sound knowledge of contract and commercial procedures. You have sound project management expertise. You stay up to date with key industry/professional trends through networking and Continued Professional Development (CPD). You update colleagues and clients on industry trends. You understand different types of contracts and are able to give advice to clients. You have good knowledge of BIM and are able to give advice to clients and articulate BIM strategy. You are proficient in office technology, software and applications. You have well-developed decision-making skills. You take ownership to identify, solve and overcome challenges, whilst keeping other abreast of developments. You are expected to deliver results, striving to exceed the client’s expectations.
