Work Status: Temporary Contract for 12 months, Full -Time (40 hours per week)
Location: Remote and Corus Headquarters in Toronto, Ontario
About the Role:
Corus’ Legal, Regulatory and Governance team is currently looking for a Senior Manager, Training, Compliance, and Investigations to support the development and implementation of ethics and conduct policies and programs at Corus. Reporting to the Head of Conduct Compliance and Programs, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring policies, communications, and training for conduct matters; and compliance programs. The successful candidate will also direct the resolution of complex and confidential human rights and workplace harassment and violence complaints by conducting unbiased and fair investigations with established legal practices, policies, and any collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Conduct interviews, gather, and analyze evidence, assess credibility, write formal investigative reports with determinative findings, and where required provide recommendations to prevent re-occurrence, for alleged violations of Corus conduct policies, including Corus’ Respect and Safety in the Workplace Policy, Code of Business Conduct Policy, and related legislation.
- Direct, develop and deliver training and communication tools concerning human rights and ethical conduct to support the implementation of the Ethics and Conduct Office (ECO) in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Review, interpret and communicate ethics, human rights and conduct policies and provide advice about legal alignment of policies with legislation.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with ethics and conduct policies and regulations.
- Act as a mediator for parties who elect to resolve complaints through conciliation.
- Develop, implement, communicate, and monitor the additional build and maintenance of regulatory compliance programs for employee conduct policies.
- Prepare compliance data reports and trend analysis for the purpose of risk management and prevention.
- Direct the resolution of complex and confidential Human Rights and Workplace Harassment and Violence complaints received through the Ethics and Conduct Office by conducting unbiased, thorough and fair investigations as assigned by the Head.
- Develop customized solutions and counsel business units on how to implement and foster ethical, inclusive, and respectful work environments and compliance with relevant legislative regulations.
- Working closely with management, employees and the People and Culture team to identify, develop and implement resolution strategies for conduct related concerns.
Skills and experience you bring:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills.
- Experience in developing and delivering employee conduct training programs.
- Excellent judgement and objectivity supported by strong analytical, problem solving skills and case management skills.
- Experience in alternative dispute resolution (conciliation/mediation/negotiation) techniques.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, equitable and accessible services, and the application of procedural fairness.
- A JD/LL.B. and experience in human rights law are definite assets
- Experience in developing and implementing complaint investigation and resolution frameworks, strategies, policies, procedures, and recommendations.
- Thorough knowledge and demonstrated ability to interpret and apply the Canada Labour Code and the Canadian Human Rights Act, and other relevant legislation combined with strong knowledge of equity and diversity principles and jurisprudence related to human rights, diversity and inclusion issues.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word) and Sharepoint.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with issues of a sensitive and confidential nature.
- Extensive interviewing, investigative and research skills, report writing and presentation skills.
- Post-secondary education in a field related to one or more of the following: Law, Diversity and Human Rights, Labour Relations, Social Work, or a related field, combined with a minimum of five (5) years of directly related work experience in conducting workplace investigations and conflict resolution.
- Knowledge, involvement, and familiarity with the history of and barriers faced by racialized, Indigenous and Black communities due to racism and anti-Black racism issues of equity and systemic change.
