Senior Analyst, Compliance Jobs

Job Summary:

The Senior Analyst, Compliance will be reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, and is responsible for the ongoing design, implementation and assessment of Li-Cycle’s Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) program that includes quarterly and annual SOX certification, as well as special projects. As the industry leader in the business segment, this position will be crucial in growing the organization’s compliance program.

Working arrangements - Hybrid model with 3 days per week in office

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintain relationship and ongoing communication with external auditors including alignment on SOX planning, walkthroughs/testing, audit requests, and deficiency evaluation
• Assist with scoping and planning including the risk assessment and mapping significant locations to key processes, systems, and accounts to determine the annual SOX plan.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, assessment, and continuous enhancement of Li-Cycle’s internal control framework
• Assist with the testing and remediation processes to ensure the effectiveness of the control environment on an ongoing basis. Identify, evaluate, and monitor the remediation of control deficiencies
• Facilitate the coordination efforts between external auditors and internal process owners as part of testing and certification of controls
• Champion standardization and automation for managing internal controls and deploy innovative technology solutions to continuously improve the design and operation effectiveness of controls, documentation, and assessment of internal controls.
• Contribute to the identification and mapping of mitigating controls for all key controls to avoid severe control deficiencies.
• Drive SOX scoping and risk assessment by collaborating with cross-functional teams to stay up to date on significant changes that impact the design and/or operating effectiveness of controls
• Help prepare executive management and Audit Committee materials highlighting overall SOX progress and results
• Deliver timely and concise communication, including developing and producing management reporting, illustrating SOX status, trends, and remediation of deficiencies
• Participate in periodic SOX risk and controls rationalization aligned to evolving business processes
• Work collaboratively with business and process owners to educate on a best-in-class internal control environment and to provide support to ensure controls are designed and implemented effectively
• Facilitate the annual walkthrough process with control owners and external auditors to ensure documentation reflects current business processes and systems.
• Assist with the management of the company's SOX compliance program and act as a central point of contact and subject matter expert to ensure appropriate internal controls over financial reporting are designed, implemented and maintained.

Job Qualifications:

• Professional certifications such as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
• Developing leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Experience designing and documenting controls
• Experience analyzing SOC 1 reports
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Strong understanding of SOX regulations and experience with SOX compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• 3-5 years of experience in external or internal audit, risk advisory, or SOX compliance roles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to all levels of the organization
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience with the COSO framework, risk assessment, SOC 1 reports, and testing methodologies
