Project Management Specialist

On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Project Management Specialist for a 12-month engagement in Richmond, BC

The full-time Project Management Specialist will initiate and execute a new project transitioning our investigative case management software from on-prem SSO server/desktop application to cloud solution.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background with significant project management experience exceeding 5 years in managing 3rd party vendor solutions via waterfall & hybrid delivery (agile waterfall) projects whilst having good awareness and experience in agile scrum delivery methods.

Additionally, the candidate will have a minimum of 5 years working with cloud based solutions involving security and integration considerations, and data migration in a complex enterprise environment.

The Project Management Specialist has an agile mindset, is an innovative problem-solver, accountable for the entire project scope, project team, resources, change records, issues, and the success or failure of the project. They are also required to manage risks in interrelated projects and have a strong understanding of the interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs. The client has adopted the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and as such, the Project Management Specialist will be managing hybrid delivery projects within the context of the SAFe framework. The Project Management Specialist is expected to adopt the SAFe framework by leveraging their past hands-on project management experience to determine fit for purpose for successful hybrid project delivery. We prefer local candidates, however exemplary remote candidates will be considered.

Job Details:

• Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence
• Defining the Statement of Work and Specifications for requested goods and services
• Defining success criteria and disseminating them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle. The Project Management Specialist is also required to:
• Setting and continually managing project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders
• Managing all aspects of one or multiple related projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives across one or multiple lines of business.
• Monitoring, tracking, and controlling outcomes to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables
• Procuring adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
• Developing and managing all aspects of the project and program including planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks, issues, and day-to-day project activities including:
• Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including project teams, sponsors, senior executive management, and key stakeholders
• Owning the full project life cycle including implementation from initiation to deployment for one or more major initiatives simultaneously
• Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
• Managing ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
• Reporting on project success criteria results, metrics, test and deployment management activities
• Preparing estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project o Managing project scope and changes
• Providing leadership to the project team by building, coaching and motivating team members to meet project goals and milestones
• Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate stakeholders.

Mandatory Skills:

• Solid background in software engineering technical principles and practice
• Significant experience with incorporating existing project management methodology with personal best practices and approaches
• Significant experience (5+ years) delivering solutions and managing deliverables provided by 3rd party vendor, including security, integration, and data migration requirements in a complex enterprise environment
• 15+ years of project management experience managing multiple large waterfall, hybrid delivery (agile waterfall) or agile scrum delivery methods that span one or multiple business units, including enterprise at scale and public sector environments
• Extensive experience in stakeholder management, demonstrating excellent communication skills, strong at building rapport including when providing project status and presenting to sponsors, IT and business stakeholders, skilled at liaising between business and technical stakeholders
• Significant experience (5+ years) with SaaS and deploying to cloud systems, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, or Google Cloud Platform
• (Requirement but not evaluated) Training and certification (e.g., SAFe for Teams or SAFe Scrum Master), or willingness to undertake training and obtain certification within two (2) months from commencement of work.
