POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Project Manager at CEM Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional projects that surpass client expectations while upholding our financial and quality standards. Joining a collaborative project delivery team, you will have the opportunity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Your contribution will be instrumental in achieving our clients' energy and environmental goals.

KEY RESULTS AREAS

  • Client’s expectations are exceeded for each project for which a Project Manager is responsible.
  • Projects for which the Project Manager is responsible are completed on time and on budget.
  • Generate additional revenue from existing clients.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In this role, you will:

  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks to clients and senior leadership for effective mitigation.
  • Coordinate with site construction and commissioning managers.
  • Manage change orders and prevent scope creep.
  • Actively participate in fee negotiation and collaborate on team selection.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and provide progress reports.
  • Contribute to project sales by providing valuable input on scoping, proposals, estimates, budgets, and fee development.
  • Oversee projects to ensure timely, within-budget, and scope-compliant delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to drive project execution.
  • Coordinate and assemble engineering and design staff, sub-consultants, and project support personnel.
  • Effectively manage and administer engineering contracts.
  • Lead the proposal effort, and skillfully prepare the fee budget.
  • Lead project planning and implementation efforts.
  • Exhibit strong project documentation skills for record-keeping purposes.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of technical, regulatory, commercial, and contractual project requirements.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the engineering project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with CEM's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Program.
  • Foster and strengthen relationships with clients involved in the projects.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage teams, clients, and external stakeholders (utilities, sub-consultants, equipment vendors, etc.).
  • Previous experience in a consulting firm.
  • Consulting environment experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Civil Structural Engineering.
  • Experience in power generation, renewal natural gas (RNG), and preferably with rotating machinery generation.
  • Solid foundational technical engineering knowledge and exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional Project Management designation (PMP) is a plus.
  • Preferred registration as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in managing engineering projects.
  • Strong presentation and face-to-face communication skills as this role involves direct client interaction.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

In addition to the above, we expect you to:

  • Ability to travel to job sites and third-party offices, when required.
  • Support your manager with miscellaneous tasks, project requirements, and corporate needs.
  • Be willing to share your experience and knowledge with colleagues from diverse technical backgrounds.
  • Preferred qualification: Bilingual in French
  • Be fluent in standard office software.
  • Possess technical writing, organizational, and time management skills.
