Production / Operations Manager Jobs

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Finishing Manager to join our metal extrusions company. As the Finishing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the finishing operations within our production facility. Your primary objective will be to ensure the efficient and effective completion of the finishing processes, meeting quality standards and customer specifications. This is a critical role that requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and exceptional organizational abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise Finishing Operations: Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of the finishing department, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all finishing processes, including surface treatment, coating, polishing, and packaging.
2. Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure finished products meet or exceed customer specifications and industry standards. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any deviations or non-conformities, taking corrective actions as necessary.
3. Process Optimization: Continuously evaluate and improve the finishing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and minimize production time. Implement Lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
4. Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of finishing technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and employee development. Identify staffing needs, participate in the recruitment process, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
5. Equipment and Maintenance: Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of finishing equipment and machinery. Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
6. Environmental and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies within the finishing department. Conduct regular safety meetings, enforce safety procedures, and investigate and address any safety incidents or concerns promptly.
7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production data, quality reports, and other relevant documentation. Generate regular reports on production metrics, including output, quality, and efficiency. Present findings and recommendations to management.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent work experience.
2. Proven experience (5+ years) in a finishing or surface treatment role within a metal extrusions or manufacturing environment.
3. Strong knowledge of various finishing processes, including surface treatment techniques, coating applications, polishing methods, packaging requirements, and experience with paint or anodization processes.
4. Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team and drive performance.
5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
6. Sound understanding of quality control principles and experience in implementing quality management systems.
7. Proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
8. Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations and procedures within a manufacturing environment.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and interact with customers.
