Altex Industries is a fabrication, engineering and service company that specializes in providing heat transfer equipment and service for the Oil & Gas, Pulp & Paper and Petrochemical industry domestically and internationally. We are seeking an Operations Manager, Manufacturing who will be working in close cooperation with the VP Manufacturing, the PMO Manager and shop supervision, to manage, plan, implement and control the production and maintenance of the fabrication facility.
Major Areas of Responsibilities:
- Ensure the plant meets the company projected production goals.
- Oversee the de-confliction of resources whether they are personnel, tools, or equipment in order to maximize efficiency.
- Complete timely, fair, and objective employee assessments in accordance with Altex Operating Procedures.
- Report all non-compliance incidents to management regardless of the nature of the incident and provide well thought out and researched solutions to those issues.
Primary Objectives:
- Attend and provide comment and feedback during company production meetings.
- Seek out and provide professional development opportunities for your subordinates.
- Ensure departmental employees undertake a cross training program to support internal advancement or the ability to cover departmental positions left vacant for any reason.
- Seek out professional development opportunities and emerging technologies with a view to create efficiency opportunities within the scope of your position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Shop Operations – develop and maintain production schedule within budgeted amounts while maintaining KPI requirements and meeting 100% on time delivery goal.
- Review and confirm work process on a regular basis to ensure most cost-efficient high-quality processes are being utilized.
- Assist in the conception, design and fabrication of new equipment or processes.
- Provide guidance to the Maintenance Manager with respect to maintenance priorities within the fabrication facilities understanding that there are other Company maintenance priorities.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership and people management skills.
- Coordinate contractors for shop projects as required.
- The ability to oversee and collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organization and planning abilities.
- Mentor and challenge your subordinates to adopt a continuous learning attitude.
- Assist in harmonizing tool and equipment purchases between the Shop, Field and Maintenance Department.
- Provide advice on equipment purchases.
- Maintain close communications with the Project Managers to satisfy client timelines.
- Maintain clear and open communications with other departmental managers, clients, and material suppliers to foresee trends within the industry and create opportunities from those trends.
- Proficient in Microsoft desktop and server applications.
- Assist in the development of department budget.
- Effective delegation skills and high interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication - strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of problem-solving ability.
- Manage time effectively; and the ability to multi-task with a strong attention to detail.
Education/Certification and Experience:
- Professional Engineer, Technologist, or relevant trade ticket with manufacturing background.
- Minimum 10 years experience in operations environment with a proven track record of successfully coaching and leading people.
