The Total Compensation section of Human Resources develops the overall total rewards strategy of the College to attract, motivate, retain and engage a high-performance workforce to contribute to the success of the College’s results. This includes the design and governance of Organizational Design (OD) and Job Evaluation program and services, Compensation strategy and salary administration, benefits plan administration and related initiatives such as the employee value proposition.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Total Compensation, the Organizational Design Specialist designs and maintains the organizational structure and organizational change rules on behalf of the College. With day to day guidance from the Senior Total Compensation Specialist, the incumbent will develop and execute best in class organizational design initiatives and practices that drive results.
The Specialist will work with other HR partners to provide expert organizational design process and structure advice and recommend options to integrate and align the College’s business strategy, processes, systems, technologies, culture and people within various organizational models.
The Organizational Design Specialist designs, executes and/or supports HR related OD interventions and change management initiatives applying sound organizational design methods and advises on complex HR initiatives and realignments involving aspects of change management and/or organizational development.
The individual is responsible for monitoring several different areas and producing detailed reports. The incumbent must display a high degree of independence, discretion and expertise to be able to support and implement best practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and records management skills;
  • Knowledge of organizational design concepts and principles;
  • Ability to set priorities and work to deadlines;
  • Previous experience in interpreting legislation, collective agreements and other applicable policies and procedures;
  • Ability to anticipate needs and articulate a vision for change;
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a senior role in organizational design/development with emphasis on ensuring proper structures to support business requirements;
  • Knowledge of College operations outside of Human Resources;
  • Experience in job evaluation and classification, preferably within an educational organization and in a unionized environment.
  • Most possess tact, diplomacy and sensitivity and a respect for confidentiality;
  • Knowledge of job evaluation methodologies, programs and practices;
  • Related professional designation such as Canadian Compensation Professional (CCP), Change Management (e.g., Prosci), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP);
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate (when needed) effectively with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Technical, analytical and mathematic ability. Ability to interpret data.
  • Four (4) year degree Human Resources (or a directly related discipline);
