What can I expect to do in this role?

Work collaboratively with operational areas, business stakeholders and technology partners, to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate and manage business requirements. The candidate must be able to produce and communicate detailed requirements that would be used by developers and referenced during solution testing.

SteriMax is looking for individuals with a passion in the areas of business analysis and data analytics. This position reports to the IT Director. Working with business clients and other colleagues, the Business Analyst in gathering, validating, and documenting various system information and needs. The senior Business Analyst will provide analysis, reporting, modelling, research, insights, and recommendations to support executive-level problem solving and decision making. The ideal candidate is humble and curious, with at least five years of experience as an analyst or similar data-intensive role looking to help improve healthcare for Canadians.

The BA is always on the move, sourcing, documenting, and preparing reports that can be used for improving services. The BA will direct junior business analysis staff in the creation and sustainment of test scenarios and scripts necessary for validating the configuration of purchased solutions, like SAP and UKG, to meet the documented business requirements.

You must demonstrate a passion for documenting details to reflect client needs, and you must be able to explain complex concepts to stakeholders to gain acceptance. We are looking for creative, curious, and analytical team members to join our Team!

You will:

• Provide technical support and leadership in the event of incident escalation or service interruptions, making sure incidents are resolved effectively
• State results of the analysis in a concise manner, both verbally and in writing, and be comfortable working as part of the team. Prepare and present high-quality deliverables to communicate insights and recommendations
• Synthesizes data using data visualizations and dashboards tailored to the audience / use
• Translate requirements to User Stories and create other artifacts (process flow, data model, use cases, etc.,) that provide clarity to the requirements.
• Design the solution for the software product in keeping with the solution architecture and technical roadmap
• Make contributions in the development of Test Plans and Test Scripts, and also perform test execution as required.
• Participate in projects as a contributor such as the development of a master data management framework and data warehouse.
• Elicit business requirements for new products, programs and processes using business analysis elicitation techniques such as requirements workshops, business process analysis, use case creation, data analysis, etc.
• Design intuitive solutions that add value for users. Work closely with the development team to define functional specifications and the modifications required to achieve objectives (including non-functional requirements)
• Participate in the design of high-level solutions and in the estimating process.
• Carryout analysis of requirements by checking for derived requirements that are logical to customers’ requests.
• Perform scheduled and ad-hoc analysis, translate data into information and answer business questions.
• Develop visualizations to bridge the gap between analytics outputs and business insights.
• Participate in data analysis and modeling support for company projects.
• Outline requirement specifications with the use of standard templates for both used cases and detailed software.
• Create and develop functional requirements of systems to improve quality, performances, external interfaces, and constraints.
• Act as a bridge to translate business requirements to analytics and reporting needs.
• Use visualization software to create and maintain dashboards that present data both numerically and in graphic form as interactive charts, heat maps, geographic area maps, and other visualizations.
• Work with business teams to gather the demand for analytics and work with IT partners and data management/governance teams to obtain the data required to support business needs.
• Develop and maintain knowledge of data structures in use by the group. Effectively apply segmentation techniques and summarize data in a way meaningful to decision-makers.
• Monitor changes to baseline requirements with the use of effective application of change control processes and tools.
• Supervise requirements traceability information and record requirements status in the course of the project.
• Liaise with multiple business units, technology teams and support teams to identify requirements, best practices, interdependencies, and opportunities for improvements.
• Critically evaluate business needs, strive for Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) though strong analytical, leadership, and conflict management skills
• Manage requirements and ensure they are stored in automated systems.
• Break development components into smaller functions that improve the user experience, in collaboration with other subject matter experts and IT professionals.
• Provide business explanations for anomalies/outliers identified during analysis.
• Work with developers and QA specialists to ensure that the detailed design is clearly understood, and that development is aligned with the design, to ensure the delivery of quality products.

How do I qualify?

• Must have: Strong user story development skills and experience working within an agile framework.
• You have experience with visualization software and data tools to create charts and graphs. Familiarity with Tableau, Brickbase or other cloud-based analytical tools would be an asset.
• Highly effective communication skills – written, oral and listening. Excellent ability to grasp and summarize information and at explaining concepts
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Preferred: Quality Assurance (testing) knowledge or background
• Highly skilled in Excel, Word, Visio, or other graphical software programs.
• Preferred: Previous experience in consulting
• Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency, resourcefulness, responsibility, and accountability
• Ability to understand and use current computer technologies and a willingness to learn new tools
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining quality standards within a specified time frame
• 5-7 years of experience as a business analyst preferrable hybrid experience – technical and business.
• Highly desirable: Two or more years experience in design and functional configuration of SAP S4/HANA.
• Preferred: A background in health services or professional services industries

• Preferred: ERP implementation experience, knowledge of software development and change management practices
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
