The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will assist with the coordination, development, execution, and evaluation of multi-channel marketing campaigns and collateral for the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Camp & Outdoor Centre programs and YMCA Academy. The position will leverage project coordination, marketing strategy, brand guidelines, digital and social channels and client targeting tactics to support all programs to achieve program objectives. In addition, this position is responsible for the addressing day-to-day program marketing and communication request (emails, website updates, and online community monitoring), tactical marketing initiatives as part of the program-marketing plans, and the successful execution and delivery of campaigns. The position will report directly to the Program Senior Marketing Manager and will work closely with program stakeholders, ensuring marketing strategies and communication executions are aligned with program goals.
In this role, you will:
  • Write, build, and assist with deployment of emails, newsletters, social and blog content as required.
  • Provide administrative support to facilitate invoice processing, budgeting, and report preparation.
  • Support the launch and communication of new programs.
  • Understand the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (program leads and stakeholders, digital marketing, external communication, graphic design, branding and operations) to reflect campaign strategy, brand and the product value propositions in all communications (print, email, and digital).
  • Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
  • Review, manage, create, and update content on dedicated Camp & Outdoor Centre program pages on ymcagta.org or additional websites, landing pages, and microsites, including acquisition forms and online calendars, as needed.
  • Support staff recruitment needs for Camps and Outdoor Centre programs.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date project-trackers (work back schedules, content & communication calendars, etc.), and produce campaign wrap reports capturing marketing tactics and their effectiveness, and an annual wrap report.
  • Support the development and coordination of marketing and communication plans through creation of content, coordination with external vendors and partners, and campaign execution to support key initiatives, in collaboration with the Senior Marketing Manager.
  • Provide administrative support at monthly cross-program meetings.
  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; take a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
You bring:
  • Proficient in project management dashboards (e.g. Smartsheet)
  • Experience or significant interest in: marketing, planning, advertising, copywriting, lead generation, presentations, project management, cross-organizational communication, social media, print, digital, and public relations
  • 2 - 3 years of related experience is required
  • In-depth knowledge of managing and monitoring social media platforms
  • Works well under pressure, across multiple projects, with multiple deadlines
  • Self-motivated and works well independently
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers
  • Strong and creative problem-solving skills
  • Experience in coordinating, developing and implementing quarterly and annual marketing plans, and multi-channel marketing campaigns
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
