Position Title:Lead Accountant - (Intermediate Level)

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will provide day to day management of the financial reporting operations of the Financial Services business, including month-end closing, internal controls compliance, ad hoc projects, and quarter-end close.
Main Job Responsibilities:
•Full ownership of the balance sheet and income statement account reconciliation, including analysis of accounts and accruals. Reviewing the working paper files and schedules to support the financial statement general ledger account balances in SAP, including reviewing the journal entries
•Produce and analyze budget to actual variance reports and KPI’s for business operations management teams.
•Assist in the financial statement close process, including but not limited to:
oPrepare the quarterly reporting package deliverables to Corporate, which analyses, monitors, and summarizes financial results.
oReconciling general ledger accounts to SAP (cash, AR, intercompany, AP & accruals, etc.)
oTake the lead in accounting of Finance Receivables portfolio, including but not limited to, the calculation of loan interest income, provisions/recovery for losses, capitalized costs / deferred revenues and amortization, receivables aging, and reconciling the receivables subledger to the general ledger.
oEntering post close journal entries in SAP
•Perform and document the internal audit controls over the financial statement close and consumer lending process.
•Liaise with external auditors as a key contact and address audit requests as needed.
•Ensure accurate tax reporting to the government. Assist with other tax compliance matters and information requests.
•Research, resolve accounting issues, and prepare accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS for Corporate Management.
•Ad hoc projects as needed in supporting the other accounting functions
Location:
Greater Toronto Area (East End)** HYBRID WORKING MODEL 2 - 3 Days in office rest work from home **
Salary Range:
(Based on experience), plus bonus2-5%
Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (e.g. Business, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, etc.)
•2-4 years relevant work experience in Accounting and Analysis
•CPA designation (or working towards)
•Financial services background is desirable.
•Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
•Proactive and takes initiative in resolving accounting issues, self-motivated, energetic, and willing to take initiative.
•Strong verbal and written skills.
•Strong attention to detail.
•Can excel in a team environment.
•Experience with SAP, LMS, and LeasePak systems is desirable.
