Broken Coast is growing, and we’re looking to add a dynamic, energetic person to our Finance team!

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the controller, the General Accountant will contribute to the overall efficient operations of the finance department by coordinating the month and year end closing, overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of periodic reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and analyze costs for all business activity such as inventory, labour and material purchases
• Document policies and procedures
• Prepare and file all federal and provincial related required reports
• Prepare monthly accounting reports for submission to management
• Develop and maintain all internal controls to comply with SOX and monitor and ensure adherence to all controls
• Prepare cost estimates and budgets for new purchases
• Assist in responding to audit inquiries
• Perform month-end close and all related month-end reports in budgeted time
• Assist in quarterly and annual external and internal financial and SOX audits
• Assist in budget preparation and regular maintenance of the budget
• Perform technical accounting tasks including the preparation of JE’s, account reconciliations, periodic closing, monthly accruals and intercompany balance reconciliation

REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work independently
• Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
• Ability to collaborate with multi-departments
• Strong Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Accurate and precise attention to detail
• Minimum 2 years in a related position
• Degree or diploma in Accounting, or a related field preferred
• Experience with Quickbooks accounting software
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
