The Senior Financial Accountant is a key member of Stormtech Performance Apparel’s Finance team and works closely with our Finance team members.This person is a team player, has a strong attention to detail and contributes his/ her experience to our accounting process.This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
The Senior Financial Accountant is involved in the day-to-day accounting activities particularly in inventory, cash management, reconciliations and payroll functions.Areas of responsibilities may be adjusted from time to time to meet business needs.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES·Prepare cash flow used as a tool for management decisions to manage cash effectively, secure loans and/ or foreign currency purchases.
·Monitor inventory movement, ensure accuracy of inventory balance at all times in all locations and resolve discrepancies collaboratively with other departments and service providers.
·Timely Processing of payroll for all companies in the Stormtech Group.
·Assist in the maintenance of books of accounts applying knowledge of general accounting and application of accounting principles (ASPE standards).
·Analyze, verify, edit and interpret various transactions, accounting data and source documents.
·Lead in month end close ensuring all transactions for the month are recorded by applying formulas for check and balances.
·Maintain chart of accounts, GL, sub-ledgers and inter-company reconciliations.
·Calculate and maintain transfer pricing applicable to subsidiaries, resolve issues thereof.
·Lead in preparation of year end audit requirements and other regulatory audit as may be requested.
·Ensure that processing activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner for both 3-way match and direct post activities.
·Assist in the implementation of any accounting system, upgrade and conversion providing review and recommendation of any modifications in the current setup.
·Work and guide the team on continuous improvements in policies, processes, and procedures.
·Answer inquiries regarding accounts from management staff.
·Ad-hoc projects as needed.
REQUIREMENTS·Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA or equivalent.
·CPA (can be CA, CMA, or CGA) or advanced progression to certification
·Payroll knowledge and/or experience is required.
·Minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience.
·Solid understanding of ASPE(IFRS is an asset).
·3+ years experience in leading teams.
·Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel- advanced level, Word, Outlook) and ERP experience, with the ability to learn new software.
·Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required
·System savvy and comfortable with different systems and tools
·Organized and diligent with their work
·Attention to detail and accuracy
·Good problem solving
