Position Overview:
Cedar Coast has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Junior Financial Analyst who is passionate about numbers and wants to join a fast-paced, growing entrepreneurial company. This role will report to the Manager, Financial Analysis and will work with management and other departments to update, maintain, and review data and financial models for all real estate projects.
As a Junior Financial Analyst at Cedar Coast, you will play a pivotal role in our real estate projects by utilizing your strong Excel skills, financial modeling expertise, and data analytics proficiency. This role allows you to work closely with cross-functional teams while benefiting from our flexible work arrangement. We welcome candidates with financial modeling experience and a drive to excel in the field of financial planning and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparation of investment summaries, financing packages, investor updates, and project updates for each project.
- Update financial and qualitative data within financial models, data models, Power BI, our investor portal, and other databases.
- Provide support to the management on various initiatives as required.
- Streamline existing processes to compile data, analyze and report on actual results.
- Review existing processes to ensure financial information is accurate and delivered in a timely fashion; make recommendations for improvements when required.
- Perform variance analyses, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
- Support real estate investment and acquisition decisions by assisting with cash flow projections, market research, profitability analyses, and sensitivity analyses.
- Reconcile transactions by cross-referencing incoming and outgoing data.
- Provide ad hoc reports and financial analyses for management as needed.
- Maintain and proactively improve financial and data models through collaboration with management and other departments.
- Assist in developing financial and data models for real estate projects in Canada and the US.
Qualification and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with complex functions and formulas.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn in a dynamic work environment.
- Experience with Python, VBA, or Office Script to automate tasks and enhance analysis is a plus.
- Experience in financial modeling, analysis, FP&A, and process improvement.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to follow through with a sense of urgency.
- Working towards CFA or another professional designation is an asset.
- Proficient in communicating complex financial concepts clearly and effectively.
- Effective planning, organizational, and time management skills to handle changing priorities and work within a fast-paced environment.
