Intermediate Financial Analyst Jobs

The Intermediate Financial Analyst reports to the Controller and conducts statistical and analytical studies on key financial policy issues and/or investment options. The Intermediate Financial Analyst prepares reporting for senior management and assists in coordinating of cash flow management. This position entails completion of special projects and financial analysis as may be required from time to time on current or new strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

Analysis and Reporting

• Participates in the annual and quarterly budgeting process.
• Performs other related duties, and projects as required.
• Prepare financial reports, charts, tables, and other exhibits as requested.
• Responsible for supervision of junior analyst(s), when required.
• Identify non-value-added processes within the department and seeks solutions.
• Collaborates with decision makers to track operational metrics and optimize reporting of these metrics.
• Perform financial forecasting.
• Understand, facilitate, and champion the integration of business processes and relevant technology, in order to identify, configure, and communicate useful information, and to provide practical business leadership to drive business decision-making across the company.
• Investigate and report to the Controller any inconsistencies or significant variances.
• Provides ad-hoc reports and analysis on a timely basis to senior management, as required.
• Participates in the year-end financial audit process, providing information directly to external auditors.
• Act as company liaison to third-party solution providers, as required.

Forecasting

• Analyze financial data – and creates financial models to support strategic decision-making.
• Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
• Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Perform analysis of trends and forecasts and recommends actions for optimization.
• Participate in the analysis of company operations to pinpoint opportunities for improvement.
• Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Actively pursuing CFA, CPA, and/or MBA considered an asset.
• Knowledge and/or experience with Change Management techniques considered an asset.
• Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Statistics, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, and Outlook, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills.
