Introduction

We are currently hiring a Junior Accountant for our client, a Canadian plant-based food manufacturer, in Surrey, BC. The Junior Accountant will be responsible for managing various accounting activities, including accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR). The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing support during month-end and year-end closing processes and ensuring accurate and up-to-date information in the accounting software. The Junior Accountant should have experience in a manufacturing environment and possess strong organizational and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in calculating cost of goods sold (COGS)
• Reconcile inventory management system with accounting system on a monthly basis
• Manage day-to-day data entry of vendor invoices
• Maintain schedules for prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other month-end activities
• Process and review accounts payable for accuracy
• Investigate issues and reconcile accounts
• Handle AR tasks such as sales order invoicing and credit memo processing
• Participate in ad hoc system implementations
• Manage foreign exchange transactions
• Amortize assets and prepaid expenses
• Reconcile monthly statements from vendors
• Handle weekly cheque runs
• Process accounting entries, including reconciliations for Visa and bank transactions
• Prepare adjusting entries for month-end inventory, finished goods, and COGS
• Assist senior accountants with assigned tasks
• Match invoices with purchase orders (POs) and delivery slips, obtaining necessary approvals

Requirements

• High school diploma, bachelor's degree, and/or enrollment in the CPA program
• Experience in implementing or working with NetSuite or other ERP software
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook Office 365
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
