Robert Half is working with one of Vancouver’s established renewable energy companies. Operating as a highly efficient and effective team, the accounting group is moving from win to win. Looking to continue capitalizing on this culture of teamwork, value add, and fun, the Sr. Manager is looking to add a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting to the team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to participate the financial reporting processes, influence operational and project accounting, conduct research into technical financial treatments, and participate in special projects. As the ideal Senior Accountant, you are a proactive problem solver who is comfortable working in the “white space”; an individual who operates with good intuition to anticipate needs and proactively tackle tasks without being told. You are an articulate and effective communicator that is comfortable speaking with people across the organization. You pride yourself on your accuracy and attention to detail without sacrificing your timeliness and deadline orientation. This role is based out of Richmond BC and has the ability to work a hybrid model.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information for month-end accruals, review and reconcile accrual accounts to ensure they reflect accurate financial data.
- Assist in ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from senior management.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting processes, making recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to forecast financial performance, assess risks, and evaluate potential scenarios.
- Collaborate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support during the annual audit process.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements, staying up-to-date with changes in accounting standards.
- Oversee the financial reporting for joint-venture partnerships, and analyze and prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with partnership agreements.
- Manage complex intercompany transactions within a global organization and collaborate with regional finance teams to resolve intercompany discrepancies.
- Perform in-depth variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to senior management.
- Collaborate with various departments, including finance, legal, and operations, to gather data and insights for reporting purposes.
Qualifications:
· A CPA designation or CFE writer.
· Proven experience (5+ years) in financial reporting, financial analysis, or accounting.
· Strong knowledge of IFRS reporting and financial reporting standards.
· Proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP systems).
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
· Self-motivated, organized, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Experience with audit support and regulatory compliance is a plus.
