As a Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the timely reporting of acquisition monthly results, as well as obtaining the necessary supporting reports and schedules. In this role, you will be working with a wide spectrum of employees who are in the process of transitioning.

• Strong user of MS Office Suite, including Excel
• Good technical, analytical, computer and database skills
• Customer service disposition with a desire to learn and grow
• Experience with medium to large ERP systems
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to multi-task
• 2-3 years of experience managing a team -assigning work, following up and being accountable for the work of this team
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• High degree of accuracy and keen attention to detail
• Education required is CPA level
• Preferred: experience with acquisition accounting and integrations
• Minimum of 5 years of working experience full cycle bookkeeping including bank reconciliations
• Ability to take direction and complete tasks independently with little monitoring

Once Here, You'll

• Performing ad-hoc projects in various capacities as needed
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations with the necessary working papers
• Preparing monthly bank reconciliations
• Assisting in the preparation of working papers
• Responding to queries from our internal and external clients in a timely and professional manner
• Perform Registry Accounting (if applicable) which include but not limited to
• Acquirees will come with an expectation that we are experts in integrations and we need to convey ourselves as the face of Westland
• Review Acquiree's monthly accounting work flows, and stress the importance of achieving the TB reporting to Head Office in the Required 3 business days. This will likely involve your influential skills, as many brokers would not have seen the requirement to report so quickly in the past.
• Recording bank transactions
• Recording bank transactions
• Preparing adjusting journal entries
• Complete inter-company account reconciliations for multiple companies
• Prepare financial statements
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
• Need to make assessments, and exercise good judgement on how and whom will need to convert information as frequently the acquiree's information will not be presented in the manner required by Westland
• Apply a firm understanding of the reporting requirements of the accounting team, and of the FPA team to ensure that we are obtaining all the information that they require, and in a fashion that promotes efficiencies with/for those teams, as well as for your team
• Prepare and submit sales tax filings for multiple provinces and territories
• Performing accounting responsibilities such as but not limited to
• Recording transactions into Accounting system from daily reports received from branch
