Position Summary:

Reporting to Senior Director Finance, as General Accountant you will have an opportunity to work as part of a close-knit, dynamic team, handling day-to-day accounting functions. Your 3+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing accounting and top-notch Excel skills will lay the foundation for your success.

Major Responsibilities:

 Strong support during the month end reporting explaining the variances

 Reconciles all bank entries / accounts with the respective ledger balances. Investigates and corrects any discrepancies.

 Responsible for monthly HST and QST filings.

 Participates in special projects as required/assigned, not only in GFCA but if required in NA.

 Understands and follows all security policies.

 Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.

 Complies with company policies and procedures, department’s health and food safety, security, GMP, BRC, Griffith Management System, and HACCP Compliance

 Assists with reconciliations, makes the required adjustments for variances, identifies, and suggests ideas for improvements and automation.

 Supports a significant portion of month-end and year-end accounting activities, ensuring they are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

 Assists with monthly expense allocations between inter companies, to ensure accuracy of inter-co settlements.

 Participates in the review of balance sheet and expense accounts and provides meaningful comments on the results, recommends solutions to improve the process.

 Assists with the volume rebate program, calculates rebate for designated distributors and analyzes rebate accruals.

 Assist in uploading BPC (reporting application)

 Assists in the preparation of year end audits

 Reviews and codes Non-PO invoices for temporary help, freight, and all miscellaneous invoices, ensuring adequate accruals are in place for period cut-off.

 Supports budgeting of Payroll and SGA expenses.

 Supports budgeting of Working Capital Items.

 Ensures all federal and provincial taxes are calculated and remitted on time by reconciling with the Ceridian Payroll Reports

 Issues T4s and T4as after year-end earnings and tax totals are balanced and reported

Requirements:

 Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) in Accounting or Finance -required

 CPA certification or in progress is a plus

 Minimum of three (3) years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

 Strong written and communication skills

 Individual must be able to work with tight deadlines

 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

 Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong experience in Microsoft ERP is required
