Junior/Intermediate Project Engineer (Hybrid)

FVB Energy Inc. (“FVB”) is seeking an Junior/Intermediate Project Engineer to join our Toronto office, located in Vaughan, ON. The successful candidate will manage and execute projects at various stages of development.

• Is registered or eligible to register with Professional Engineer Ontario;
• Possesses excellent communication and time management skills; and
• Is comfortable working on multiple projects at different stages at any given time;

Education and Experience

• Professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC, or eligible for registration;
• Experience with geo-exchange, heat pumps, biomass, and/or other alternate energy technologies; and
• Preference will also be given to candidates with:
• Experience in district cooling or heating design or construction.
• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering;
• Experience with hydronic based HVAC design;
• Minimum of one (1) to five (5) years experience in an engineering position preferably in the HVAC or energy industry;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong project management, multitasking, and decision-making skills; and
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
• Proficiency working in a Microsoft Office environment;
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
The Intermediate Project Engineer will apply accepted engineering principles to design initiatives to:

• Small equipment selection (heat exchangers, pumps, piping, control valves, expansion, and pressurization tanks).
• Assist in the preparation of specifications and drawings for large projects.
• Take responsibility for completing specific design tasks:
• Conduct site visits for construction supervision and project commissioning services and issue reports.
• Play key role in preparation and issuance of equipment tender packages, tender process, bid evaluation, and recommendation report.
• Assist with preparation of feasibility studies.
• Apply previous knowledge and experience to design projects.
• Design calculations (pipe and duct sizing, stack sizing, annual energy consumption calculations, etc.).
• Assist the engineering team in the technical design of energy plants, distribution piping, and building interface projects.
• Hydraulic analysis.
• Support estimating and costing of projects.
• Assist in the selection of energy plant equipment (chillers, boilers, gensets, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.).
• Liaise with the clients, consultants, contractors, and vendors to coordinate, share project information, and/or discuss the project and design-related problems.
• Work with CAD designers to ensure all drawings are accurate.
• Preparation of construction and tender documents for small projects.
