Intermediate Electrical Engineer Jobs

Our client, an engineering consulting firm for mechanical and electrical building services in Kitchener-Waterloo, is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their team immediately on a permanent full-time basis.
You will be joining a team committed to design integrity and quality attention to detail, and a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency to their approach. Together with Senior Engineers on the team, the successful candidate will work on technical design requirements for assigned projects, project management, coordination with other disciplines, client building, and contract administration requirements throughout construction. This position can work out of their head office in Waterloo or their Hamilton, Ontario office.
Role And Responsibilities

• Develop the technical design for various electrical systems from preliminary design phases through to completion including coordinating electrical site services for new construction, site photometric plans, electrical distribution design, fire alarm, generator (standby and life safety) designs, emergency and life safety systems, lighting & associated controls, and other electrical requirements to suit client standards and building classifications
• Attending design meetings to represent the electrical discipline
• Selecting relevant equipment
• Overseeing / completing the drafting and modeling assigned projects
• Performing design calculations for each of these systems
• Management of other junior electrical team members
• Coordination of electrical systems with mechanical, architectural, and other disciplines, and contract administration requirements
• Working with both external project teams and our internal design teams to develop the electrical designs for a variety of buildings

Qualifications

• Working knowledge and experience using Revit is considered an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize AutoCAD to prepare electrical design documents.
• Five years of electrical engineering experience in the building service industry.
• Knowledge of relevant Canadian and Ontario codes and standards (OBC, OESC, IES, NFPA, IES, etc.).
• Ability to effectively resolve construction issues, manage client expectations, review construction sites, liaise with contractors, and other contract administration requirements.
• Licensed member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) is an asset.
• Strong technical knowledge in the design and code requirements for power and distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, life safety systems, generators, and other auxiliary systems such as IT, A/V, and communications.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to think analytically, attention to detail, resourceful and detail-oriented, and team and customer service focused.
