The Govan Brown team is growing and we're looking for a Senior Estimator with over 8 years of experience working on commercial interior construction projects.
The Opportunity

• Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential contructability issues
• Oversee and manage all aspects of the estimating and Pre-Construction process, from estimate preparation, subcontractor solicitation, through to subcontract buyout / contracting.
• Conduct thorough analysis of tender drawings and prepare detailed/accurate quantity takeoffs
• Experience with lump sum and construction management projects
• Identify and select highly qualified subcontractors and solicit competitive pricing for tenders
• Work with project management and business development to determine budgeting, general conditions and strategic position for project opportunities being considered
• Participate in pre-construction process, including attending meetings, preparing and presenting budget, value engineering

Desired Skills & Expertise

• Ability to pull apart drawings and technical specs with a solid understanding of trade scope of work
• Relationship savvy and interpersonal skills to demand the respect of all stakeholders
• Knowledge of construction management, lump sum and design build contracts
• Gold Seal certification in estimating and/or Quantity Surveyor designation are assets
• Construction, Engineering or Architectural degree or diploma
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
• Proficiency in computerized estimating programs
• Over 8 years of commercial interior construction estimating experience in a general contracting or construction environment
• Strong relationships with local sub-trades and knowledge of local market conditions
