Senior Mechanical Estimator/Project Manager
Talent By Design Services has partnered with Ridgeway Mechanical in seeking a highly talented and accomplished Senior Mechanical Estimator/Project Manager to join our Ridgeway team. As a key member of our organization, and reporting to the Owners, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the estimation and project management functions of our mechanical construction projects. This pivotal position requires a strong background in mechanical estimation and project management, along with exceptional leadership and communication abilities.

Project Management Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to project team members, including project coordinators, superintendent/foremen, and subcontractors.
- Partner with the key stakeholders to develop and oversee project schedules, identify resource requirements, establish project milestones, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, quality standards, and safety regulations to guarantee an efficient project execution.
- Take responsibility for project closeout documentation, ensuring its completeness and timely submission for occupancy.
- Act as a liaison with the project site, maintaining regular communication and addressing any on-site issues that may arise.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and proactively address any issues or challenges that arise during the project lifecycle.
- Foster a collaborative positive and productive cross-functional work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Successfully manage projects ranging from 5M to 20M, with a strong focus on cost control and efficient resource allocation.
- Work collaboratively with general contractors, mechanical consultants, and other trades to develop mutually agreeable solutions to project issues as they arise.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, promoting effective collaboration and successful project outcomes.
- Provide guidance to and oversee the work of the Junior Mechanical Estimator/Project Coordinator.
- Provide oversight in the review and approval process of shop drawings to ensure adherence to project requirements and specifications.
- Skillfully handle price change orders and effectively communicate changes to relevant parties.
- Effectively manage Requests for Information (RFIs) and ensure timely resolution and communication among project stakeholders.
- Coordinate closely with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of materials and equipment, supporting smooth project execution.
Design-Build Responsibilities
- Familiar with 3D modelling and clash detection.
- Collaborate with the design team during the early design stage to develop an accurate understanding of the project intent and requirements to be able to create comprehensive project budgets.
- Ability to review, understand and implement the Owner’s statement of requirements to direct the mechanical designers to develop a compliant design.
- Apply understanding of construction methods and Code requirements to review, comment on and improve design concepts within the allocated project budget.
Estimating Responsibilities
- Conduct quantity take-offs to accurately assess material and labor requirements for project estimation.
- Thoroughly review contract documents, identifying any potential risk items and providing valuable advice to project stakeholders, including the owner.
- Solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring a comprehensive and competitive bidding process.
- Analyze quotations received from subcontractors and suppliers, carefully evaluating accuracy and completeness to inform decision-making.
- Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of estimates, ensuring they align with project requirements and objectives.
- Prepare project budgets with limited information, utilizing your expertise to estimate costs and allocate resources effectively.
- Utilize your expertise to prepare comprehensive project estimates, accounting for all relevant factors and ensuring accuracy.
- Manage a database of subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining up-to-date information for streamlined communication and procurement.
- Take charge of issuing Requests for Information (RFIs) to gather additional project details and address any ambiguities.
- Establish and foster strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers, promoting effective collaboration and securing competitive bids.
Requirements
- Proven experience in successfully managing and delivering medium to large-scale mechanical construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of motivating and leading project teams to achieve project objectives.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in mechanical estimation and project management within the construction industry. In the lower mainland

- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and build strong client relationships.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
