Junior Mechanical Estimator/Project Coordinator
Talent By Design Services has partnered with Ridgeway Mechanical in seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Estimator/Project Coordinator to join our team at Ridgeway. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Estimator/Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting the estimation process and project coordination for mechanical construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders.

Estimating Responsibilities
- Review subcontractor and supplier quotations for completeness and coordination between scopes.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs, analyze project plans and specifications, and solicit subcontractor and supplier quotes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to know who to send quotes to, what type of projects the subcontractor is most interested in, what suppliers carry what product lines.
- Create and submit Requests for Information (RFI), clarify project details and ensure accuracy in the estimation process.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction projects, considering project plans, specifications, and relevant information.
- Maintain database of contact information of subs and suppliers for estimating purposes.
Project Coordination Responsibilities
- Obtain rough-in material quotes for new projects.
- Schedule and coordinate material and equipment deliveries to site.
- Track status of change order pricing and approvals
- Collaborate and assist the project team to develop and monitor project schedules, track project milestones, tracking costs, and identifying potential risks or issues that may impact project timelines or budget.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support project deliverables and ensure timely completion.
- Manage and track the shop drawing process including reviewing shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with the project documents.
- Obtain permits and licenses required for project execution.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in mechanical construction estimation and project coordination.
- Gather necessary documentation for project Occupancy and close-out, including operations and maintenance manuals.
- Liaise with subcontractors including updating them on status of work on site, RFI’s and responses, issuing field review reports, follow up on deficiency work.
- Prepare monthly progress claims.
- Visit project site locations to attend meetings, gather information and monitor progress, as needed.
- Create and process purchase orders for necessary materials and equipment.
- Prepare, review, analyze and maintain project documentation, including project files, shop drawings, change orders, and progress reports to verify compliance with project requirements and specifications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project documentation, correspondence, and communication.
Requirements
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
- Proficiency in using project management software and tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with estimation software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, AutoCAD) is an asset.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (considered a strong asset).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- A proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic industry.
- Previous experience in mechanical estimation, project coordination, or a related role is preferred (highly advantageous).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
