Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager

Impact Engineering is currently seeking a Professional Mechanical Engineer to lead projects at our Impact HQ Office, located in Vancouver, BC.

The ideal candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.) who is self-motivated and has a passion for sustainable, low carbon design. A strong background in mechanical building services design, with specific knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and energy is required for this position.

You are a detail-oriented team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to learn and grow. You will be independently leading project teams with support from senior engineers. Depending on interest, you will have the opportunity to grow and lead a team.

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare energy studies and reports; analyze utility data and conduct engineering analysis
• Potential for business development (based on interest)
• Design of HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems
• Manage projects and internal staff, providing clear direction and mentorship
• Manage project implementation and construction administration
• Support team to perform building load calculations using Excel and modeling software such as Carrier HAP and / or IES VE.
• Client relationship management and primary point of contact through project delivery

Skills / Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a mechanical P.Eng. / P.Tech., and 5 years' total mechanical engineering consulting experience is a requirement
• Knowledge of design concepts and fundamentals
• Knowledge of building controls and energy management systems an asset
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience in sales and client interaction an asset
• Currently registered as a P.Eng. or P.Tech. with EGBC / ASTT
• Ability to lead engineering project teams with confidence and strong communication
• Mechanical Engineering Degree or Mechanical Technologist certification
• Experience with drafting and modeling software
• Strong understanding of Codes and Standards (BCBC, VBBL, ASHRAE, CSA, NFPA)
• Strong understanding of a variety of mechanical equipment and systems
