The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Dynamic Construction Estimator with 5+ years experience to join our team. Reporting to the Principals, the Construction Estimator will be responsible for providing clear and competitive proposals to our clients in a timely manner.

Your key responsibilities will Include:

• Organize sub-contractors' quotations, negotiate to ensure quotes meet contract documents, and issue properly documented purchase orders.
• Maintains Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
• Performs quantity take-off from construction drawings where applicable.
• Actively participate in contingency discussions and recommendations
• Analyzes documents, drawings, specifications, proposals, and addendums in preparation for pricing.
• Prepare presentations and present estimates to management and clients.
• Prepare and maintain appropriate documentation to support estimate preparation and review estimate contingency and escalation costs.
• Understand contractual terms and conditions.
• Incorporates / complies with risk management policies and procedures.
• Protects all forms of proprietary information.
• Obtains pricing from suppliers and Subcontractors, compiling information into estimate.
• Assists with RFP’s and General Contract tender submissions.
• Reviewing project site prior to price preparation.
• Collaborates with Operations to drive project success and learning.
• Formulates all costs for tender submission – labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
• Ensure site personnel are provided with proper documentation related to the project.
• Responsible for accuracy of bid cost to actual cost of work performed.
• Oversees the distribution of appropriate documentation appropriately upon award of project.
• Assists with Prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s as required.
• Monitor progress, requisition change orders and identify any potential risks.

What You'll Bring...

• Proficient with MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) with the flexibility to learn new programs
• Available for fulltime schedule (40 hrs) with the flexibility to work varying hours if needed.
• A sparkling personality with a positive, hard-working attitude
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license
• Have built or able to build a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors, and team members to effect competitive excellence, pride in teamwork and outstanding project delivery
• Can demonstrate knowledge and experience of the various disciplines involved with estimating, tendering, and managing projects.
• Command of the English language, both written and verbal
• Service oriented with a professional and courteous demeanor
• A degree or diploma from a recognized engineering, architectural, or construction management program is an asset
• Proven organization and problem-solving skills
• Must live & reliably commute within Metro Vancouver lower mainland.
• Have 5+ years of progressive Estimating, Project Coordination or Management experience in commercial construction, with at least 3 or more years client facing
